Cincinnati Bengals nose tackle Josh Tupou will opt-out of the 2020 season, accoridng to a new report.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news Friday.

Tupou quietly had a very good season over 16 games in 2019, earning a 73.8 PFF grade as a key piece of the run defense inside. The move comes in the wake of the Bengals waiving Ryan Glasgow, another interior piece.

With Glasgow and now Tupou gone, the Bengals could be on the market for more interior help behind Geno Atkins and D.J. Reader. Renell Wren could see an uptick in play and the team otherwise has some interesting undrafted projects like Tyler Clark and Trey Dishon.

This is the first COVID-19 related opt-out for the Bengals. Players have until the first week of August to notify teams of their decision to do so.
