Report: Jonathan Taylor, Colts relationship ‘headed in the right direction’

The relationship between the Colts and Jonathan Taylor reportedly is on the mend.

The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for the return of running back Jonathan Taylor from the Reserve/PUP list, and it appears the relationship is on the mend.

After officially opening the 21-day practice window Wednesday, Taylor was on the field for the first time with his teammates since January. And while the relationship between Taylor and the front office has been in turmoil, it reportedly is getting better.

According to Stephen Holder of ESPN, there has been a significant improvement in Taylor’s attitude, and that the relationship is being repaired.

A team source indicated this week that Taylor ‘s attitude toward the team has been significantly improved and that the relationship is headed in the right direction — a far cry from Taylor’s earlier interactions with the club, which were said to be much more heated.

The entire saga between Taylor and the Colts has been exhausting. So much has happened behind the scenes that it’s difficult to gauge where the two sides currently stand. But this is a much more encouraging report than what has been coming out over the last two months.

As to whether the contract issues get resolved is unclear. The Colts have made it clear that while they aren’t against a mid-season extension, they want to make sure he’s healthy first.

What’s in store for these two remains to be seen, but this certainly should be considered a step in the right direction.
