The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb was able to confirm the news with Harbaugh Friday afternoon. The deal is believed to be a five-year, $20 million extension that includes incentives that could bring his salary back up to $8 million per year, though official contract details have not been announced.
Over the course of six years, Jim Harbaugh has compiled a 49-22 record as Michigan’s head coach, ranking the Wolverines among the top 15 nationally over that stretch. He led Michigan to three top-15 finishes in the AP Poll, something the Wolverines had only done once from 2007-14.
