Once the Tampa Bay Bucs signed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette, they had to make space on their roster for the transaction and cut Dare Ogunbowale as a result. Here we are five days later and Ogunbowale will be heading to the team who waived Fournette: the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jags’ pending acquisition of Ogunbowale comes as they could be down to just two running backs for Week 1’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Devine Ozigbo surfaced on the injury report today with a hamstring injury and if he’s not able to go Sunday, the Jags would be down to just James Robinson and Chris Thompson at running back.

Ogunbowale entered the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans. He ended up on their practice squad temporarily, as well as the Bucs’ and Washington Football team’s in 2017. He had a second stint with the Bucs from 2018 until being waived last week.

Ogunbowale, who is more of a pass-catching running back, will come into his Jags tenure with 286 career receiving yards. He’s also been utilized as a returner on special teams, accumulating 360 career yards in the category.
