The Jadeveon Clowney free agency saga has taken yet another turn, as the free-agent pass-rusher has apparently parted ways with his agent, Bus Cook.
The news comes from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who notes that this isn’t the first time Clowney has done so.
Last year, as Labor Day weekend approached, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney fired agent Bus Cook. This year, Clowney has done it again.
Per multiple sources, Clowney has parted ways with Cook.
Florio notes that while Clowney could negotiate his own deal, the expectation is that he’ll hire agent Kennard McGuire, who played college ball at the Tennessee.
It’s possible Clowney will do a deal on his own. Per multiple sources, however, it’s currently believed he will eventually hire Kennard McGuire.
This comes on the heels of the news that Clowney had dinner with New Orleans Saints head coach, Sean Payton, and two other coaches on Friday night in Texas, where Clowney lives.
The Saints and Tennessee Titans are reportedly two teams making a strong push for Clowney. It isn’t clear what impact, if any this move to change agents will have on Clowney’s ultimate decision.
With it being roster cutdown day on Saturday (the deadline is at 3 p.m. CT), there is an expectation that Clowney will finally make his decision, but it remains to be seen if that will actually be the case.
