Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Sunday, per the initial diagnosis after he was carted from the field.
The report comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who also wrote that “there may be additional damage.”
The Bengals will have to wait and see if the damage is isolated to the ACL or not, which could alter the amount of work he needs done, as well as the return timetable.
Burrow suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Washington Football Team. The team immediately declared him out and in response to an outpour of support from the likes of Russell Wilson, Burrow sent out a tweet declaring he was already working on his comeback.
Bad news for the #Bengals. But two silver linings: 1. Plenty of time for a full recovery for next year. 2. Cincy knows it has a rockstar at QB for the next 15 years. https://t.co/arLebUoYHz
