ESPN’s Rachel Nichols probably left more than a few mouths agape when she revealed on-air that Boston Celtics veteran forward Gordon Hayward doesn’t plan on leaving the bubble for the birth of his child, due any time now in the month of September.
Hayward, who missed the last month — effectively the entirety of the playoffs to date save Game 1 of the Celtics’ series with the Philadelphia 76ers — due to a Grade III ankle sprain, has already shown himself to be having an impact on the Eastern Conference Finals series with the Miami Heat.
That Boston dropped the first two games of without him, erupting into arguments post-game.
Rachel Nichols with the news everyone was wondering there. Gordon Hayward is not leaving the bubble for the birth of his child.

Given Hayward’s tough journey since nearly the moment he took the court with this team and just how close they are to reaching the NBA Finals, it’s conceivable (if surprising) the Butler product would elect to stay in the Disney restart bubble for a chance at competing for the dream of a lifetime.
If he does actually end up sticking around and Boston advances however, we here at the Celtic Wire believe his wife Robyn will be deserving of a championship ring of her own.
