Report: Greg Olsen would consider reunion with Ron Rivera on Redskins

The veteran tight end might just consider the Redskins.

It’s hard to ignore the connection between former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera.

Olsen will talk to teams after the Super Bowl but his playing career is very much a question mark given his age (35) and potential for other opportunities.

But it appears the Rivera factor could have the Redskins in play, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post:

“Tight end Greg Olsen, who just parted ways with the Carolina Panthers, would consider reuniting with Ron Rivera by signing with the Washington Redskins if he opts to continue his NFL playing career, according to a person familiar with the situation.”

Rivera has shown a propensity to go after former Carolina staffers after joining the Redskins, so it’s easy to think he might end up doing the same with Olsen.

And why not? It’s hard to imagine the market for Olsen would be overly competitive at this stage of his career and the Redskins could use more consistency at the position with Jordan Reed often in and out of the lineup.

It won’t be long before Olsen starts making more waves in the news department after the Super Bowl.
