Maybe there is such a thing as a hometown discount after all…
Per numerous reports, including John Clark of NBC in Philadelphia, free agent safety Will Parks agreed to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles to leave the Denver Broncos. Clark and other note Parks turned down more money from both the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings to join the Eagles.
Parks is from the Philadelphia area, though he went to college at Arizona. A sixth-round pick in 2016, Parks steadily progressed in his years with the Denver Broncos into a safety worthy of being coveted by three NFC teams as a free agent.
Parks will line up with former Lion Darius Slay, playing for former Lions coach Jim Schwartz in Philadelphia instead of Detroit or Minnesota.
Sometimes playing in the hometown means more to a player than more money, it seems.
