This would make a lot of sense: the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reports that FOX Sports is “closing in on” a deal with Mark Ingram II to join their “Big Noon Kickoff” Saturday pregame show, potentially swapping one former New Orleans Saints running back for another.
Marchand adds that FOX Sports has been embroiled in a contract dispute with show host Reggie Bush, having explored a couple of possible replacements over the last year. But Ingram might be their best bet.
Ingram has done very well in his past media work on television, radio, in podcasts, and on other platforms, and his playing career might be finished. His performance sank last year before a season-ending knee injury put him on the sidelines. If Bush is pricing himself out of FOX Sports’ budget, Ingram could be a natural fit.
It’s just ironic that this wouldn’t be the first time Ingram replaces Bush; the Saints drafted Ingram in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft, prompting Bush’s infamous “It’s been fun New Orleans” reaction on social media before his following trade to the Miami Dolphins. Bush has done well for himself working in the media, too, and shouldn’t have to wait long looking for work if he is in fact splitting with FOX Sports.
