The Philadelphia 76ers are currently looking for a new head coach after firing Brett Brown after seven seasons on the job. There are a few candidates for the job, but now there appears to be another name thrown into the mix after a surprising coaching move on Tuesday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder parted ways with Billy Donovan after he guided the Thunder to a surprisingly successful season. The Thunder were not expected to do much after swapping face of the franchise Russell Westbrook for Chris Paul as well as trading away All-Star Paul George, but they instead made the playoffs as a 5 seed and pushed the Houston Rockets to seven games.
Now that Donovan is gone, his name is now being thrown into the pot in terms of candidates for the current coaching vacancy in Philadelphia.
Billy Donovan's name has been floating around as a potential Sixers head coaching candidate this month, per sources. But the first order of business for Philadelphia is to get its front office situation sorted out. https://t.co/dsxzSENpZV

Donovan coached in Oklahoma City for five seasons and he had a 243-157 record making the playoffs in all five seasons and leading them to the Western Conference Finals in his rookie season in 2016. He coached Sixers forward Al Horford in college at Florida so there is already a connection. [lawrence-related id=37522,37519,37516]
