Cincinnati has an unexpected coaching search on its hands after Luke Fickell announced he is heading to take the job at Wisconsin.
A report from “jwilliamscincy”, a Cincinnati columnist for the Enquirer, states the former Texas head coach Tom Herman is a candidate for the vacant position.
Tom Herman & Matt Campbell very much in play for #Bearcats job, I’m told. Could be others, just names I’m hearing. Also:
— UC putting premium on head coaching experience
— Urban Meyer isn’t happening, for those fans who were dreaming of that @ENQSports

Texas went 32-16 during Herman’s four-year stretch as head coach. His best season came in 2018, highlighted by a 10-win season and a Sugar Bowl victory. He previously had a very successful stint as the Houston from 2015-2016.
Herman spent time in the state of Ohio during his time as offensive coordinator for Ohio State. He helped lead the Buckeyes to a national title in 2014.
If Cincinnati does hire Herman as head coach, it would create some intriguing matchups in the new Big 12. Herman would face off against both of his former schools in Texas and Houston.
