A former Notre Dame assistant coach appears to be taking his talents to the NFL to fill the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching vacancy.
Urban Meyer, Notre Dame’s wide receivers coach from 1996-2000, is making the leap to the NFL to lead the disastrous Jaguars who are coming off a 1-15 season.
Sources: Urban Meyer is finalizing a deal to become the next coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. All signs point to a deal being done today.

To those who question why Jacksonville would bring in someone as rooted in the college game as Meyer, remember the best run in Jaguars history came under Tom Coughlin. Coughlin had 12 years of collegiate coaching on his resume before being named Jacksonville’s inaugural head coach.
As bad as the 1-15 roster is the good thing is for Meyer is that the number-one pick belongs to Jacksonville and the best quarterback prospect in nearly a decade is there for the taking.
