Report: Former Nets assistant GM joining Knicks

Knicks president Leon Rose is bringing former Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Frank Zanin back to New York.

It’s been four years since Frank Zanin worked for an NBA franchise based in New York. But now reports indicate he’s making his return — only, he’ll be working for a different team this time around.

When Zanin last worked for a New York-based NBA team, it was as a member of the Brooklyn Nets organization. He was with the franchise in both Brooklyn and New Jersey under Billy King, last holding the title of assistant general manager. Zanin also briefly handled the responsibilities of general manager in between King’s departure and Sean Marks being named general manager — though Zanin never held the title of general manager or interim general manager.

Zanin is now set to join the New York Knicks as part of Leon Rose’s staff, with Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic reporting the parties were “working towards a deal” and Marc Berman of the New York Post confirming Zanin will join the Knicks as assistant general manager of pro scouting.
