It’s been two days since the Atlanta Falcons wrapped up the 2020 NFL season and already the team has begun to thoroughly examine different head-coaching candidates.
After interviewing Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh on Monday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the Falcons have requested an interview with Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.
Falcons have requested permission to interview Bucs DC Todd Bowles, per source. @ProFootballTalk reported earlier Bowles set to interview with Atlanta next week. Bucs rank sixth in total defense under Bowles, former head coach of Jets for four seasons.

Bowles made a name for himself as a one of the NFL’s brightest defensive minds as a coordinator before coaching the New York Jets for four seasons. After posting a 10-6 record in 2015, the Jets regressed over the following three years. Bowles’ final record in New York was 24-40. Although, seeing the team get even worse under Adam Gase makes you wonder if Bowles just got stuck in a bad situation.
He would land on his feet in Tampa Bay and has helped turn around the Buccaneers defense (6th in total defense in 2020). With so many first-time coaching candidates on the market, an experienced name like Bowles could be the kind of leader Atlanta is looking for.
Check back for more interview updates throughout the week.
