Report: Ex-Chargers LB Kyle Emanuel coming out of retirement

The former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker is making his comeback.

After spending four seasons in the NFL, former Chargers linebacker Kyle Emanuel announced an unexpected retirement last April.

However, after a year has gone by, Emanuel has made the decision to return to the gridiron, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Emanuel resorted to injuries for being the reason he called it quits, and that his long-term health was important to him. But after having a full year to restore his body, the 28-year old is ready to pick up where he left off.

In four seasons with the Chargers, Emanuel amassed 133 tackles (83 solo), 11 tackles for loss, five passes defensed, four sacks and two sacks.

Before announcing his retirement, the Raiders and Lions had interest in signing the former North Dakota State product. Now a free agent, Emanuel can sign with another team immediately.
