The Kansas City Chiefs were in limbo regarding offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. After he didn’t land a head coaching job once again, the Chiefs faced uncertainty with Bieniemy.
But on Thursday, it was reported that Bieniemy is returning to Kansas City on a one-year deal, according to Jeffri Chadiha of NFL Network.
The Chiefs simply couldn’t let Bieniemy walk, especially with another year of their high-powered offense returning to Arrowhead. The former Colorado Buffaloes player and offensive coordinator continues to improve his resume but for some reason, isn’t landing a job as a head coach.
He even interviewed with the Denver Broncos, but they chose Nathaniel Hackett, and are hoping Aaron Rodgers follows suit.
Bieniemy’s time could still come, and maybe 2023 is the season he takes that next step.

His staying in KC was expected, and it would’ve been surprising if the Chiefs parted ways with him.
However, the Chiefs lost a heartbreaker to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC title game and the offense sputtered in the second half, which didn’t help Bieniemy’s case.
Nonetheless, he is one of the best coordinators in the NFL and has one more shot to boost his resume ahead of what should be another furious coaching cycle in 2023.
For now, Bieniemy waits for a head coaching gig, although it must be on the horizon soon.
