Report: Eagles request to interview Brandon Staley for head-coaching job

Add the Eagles to the list of teams lining up to hire Brandon Staley.

After leading the Rams to the No. 1 overall defense in the NFL this season, Brandon Staley has become a popular guy. He’s one of the top head-coaching candidates of the offseason, and the interest in him grows by the day.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the latest team to request an interview with Staley as they search for their next head coach after firing Doug Pederson, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. This is bad news for the Rams as they certainly hope to keep Staley for at least another year before he eventually becomes a head coach in the NFL.

Three head-coaching vacancies have officially been filled by the Jaguars, Falcons and Jets, with four remaining. The Lions reportedly have their sights set on Dan Campbell and he’s become the favorite for that job, so there are really only three landing spots remaining for Staley: the Texans, Chargers and Eagles.

The Chargers already interviewed him via Zoom, while the Texans are waiting to do so. They and the Eagles will have to wait until after the Rams’ game against the Packers, however, to interview Staley.
