The Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching search is underway after they fired Doug Pederson on Tuesday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday reported the Eagles requested an interview with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.
It’s not a surprise to see the team with the newest head coach opening reaching out to Saleh right away. He’s been popular in this coaching cycle.
Interviewing with Philadelphia would be his sixth interview since the season ended. He also met with the Falcons, Lions, Jaguars and Chargers. He’s also a finalist for the Jets’ job and will have a second in-person interview with them according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
The Eagles haven’t recaptured the playoff magic they found en route to a Super Bowl win in the 2017 season. Since then they had a pair of early playoff exits and a disappointing 4-11-1 finish this year that helped lead to Pederson’s departure.
