The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly expected to trade quarterback Carson Wentz soon, per a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly a team that has shown interest.
Schefter reported that the Colts, along with the Chicago Bears, are among the teams that have shown “some level of interest.” What that means in terms of how invested the Colts are in making a deal isn’t clear.
Schefter also reported that the Eagles are looking for compensation in the realm of what the Detroit Lions got for Matthew Stafford—which turned out to be a 2022 and 2023 first-round pick, 2021 third-round pick and quarterback Jared Goff.
If that truly is the price, the Colts are unlikely to be interested. It would be hard to imagine general manager Chris Ballard giving up two first-round picks for Wentz, which is what another report states they are looking for.

The Colts need a quarterback before the 2021 season starts. That is a fact. But Ballard has constantly stood by his word of not overpaying for a quarterback unless they are 100% convinced that player will be under center for a prolonged period of time.
With so many questions surrounding Wentz and his future, it’s hard to see the Colts viewing him in the light of a franchise quarterback.
Regardless, this will be a storyline to keep an eye on over the next week or so as the Eagles try to ship off the former No. 2 overall pick.
