Report: Dolphins trading WR Jakeem Grant to the Bears for a draft pick

Miami is getting a late-round pick back for the wideout.

Despite not having their full complement of pass-catchers, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly trading wide receiver Jakeem Grant to the Chicago Bears.

The trade, reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, will net the Dolphins a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Grant was drafted by the Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2016 draft and has been mainly a special teamer with a small role on offense. In just over five years, Grant recorded just 91 receptions for 1,001 yards and five touchdowns. However, this year, the former Red Raider hasn’t been able to get much going, totaling two receptions for negative seven yards and fumbling twice.

With Will Fuller’s injury, the depth at wide receiver could be an issue in Miami, so the timing of this move is interesting, but there were rumors of potentially moving on from Grant before the season, so it’s not a complete shock.

Chicago is getting a versatile player, while Miami adds another late-round pick to their collection.
