The New England Patriots lucked out on Monday morning.
Following an apparent hand injury that put center David Andrews out of practice on Sunday, the X-rays came back negative. He missed four games early in the 2020 season with a broken thumb and it altered the momentum of the entire offensive line. Andrews is entering his sixth season with the team he’ll be a key piece in smoothly running the offense this year.
Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona also left practice on Sunday with an injury and “could potentially miss a little time”, according to The Athletics’ Jeff Howe. Cardona, who’s entering his seventh season with the team, had an apparent wrist injury. Tight end Jonnu Smith and defensive end Deatrich Wise took over the temporary snapping duties for punts and field goals.
A couple injury updates from Foxboro: David Andrews appears to be OK after hurting his hand yesterday in practice, but Joe Cardona could potentially miss a little time after leaving midway through yesterday's workout.

Tight end Hunter Henry also left practice with an injury on Sunday and he may miss some preseason time. The Patriots’ first preseason game is on Thursday against the Washington Football Team.
