Report: Colts to start Jonathan Taylor on limited snap count

Jonathan Taylor reportedly will be on a limited snap count over the next month.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor agreed to a big contract extension, and the team is going to be smart about his usage as he gets back onto the field.

Considering that Taylor hasn’t played in a game since aggravating his ankle injury in Week 15 of the 2022 season, and the fact that he practiced for the first time this week in roughly 290 days, the Colts aren’t going to rush him into 20-plus touches per game.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Colts are expecting to put Taylor on a limited snap count upon his return in Week 5, gradually increasing his workload over the next month.

This shouldn’t be much of a surprise. The Colts are making a heavy investment in the star running back, so they are going to make sure he’s fully ready to go before giving him his full workload.

With this, we should expect a strong split between Taylor and Zack Moss in Week 5 when the Colts host the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium.

While fantasy football managers won’t be all that happy with a split workload over the next month, the Colts are going to make sure they don’t overwhelm their newly signed back.
