The Indianapolis Colts are hiring Hall of Fame offensive lineman Kevin Mawae as the assistant offensive line coach, per Stephen Holder of The Athletic.
The Colts have had to replace many spots on the coaching staff this offseason. Former offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni took the head coaching job with the Philadelphia Eagles and took with him three assistants from the coaching staff.
Mawae played 16 seasons in the NFL with three different teams – the Seahawks (1994-1997), Jets (1998-2005) and Titans (2006-2009). He was a three-time first-team All-Pro selection and an eight-time Pro Bowl selection. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
Even though former assistant offensive line coach Klayton Adams reversed his course and decided to stay after accepting a job at Arizona State, Mawae will be holding the former’s role on the coaching staff.
