You might be done with 2020, but 2020 is not done with you. The Carolina Panthers are a perfect example of that. Injuries and COVID-19 have severely impacted their roster this season, causing several key players to miss a lot of games over the first nine weeks.
Running back Christian McCaffrey has been hit again. He just returned to action in Week 9 after missing the previous six games due to a high ankle sprain. It sounds like he could be heading back to the sidelines. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, McCaffrey could miss more time due to a shoulder injury he suffered against the Chiefs Sunday.
#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, who returned after missing more than a month with an ankle injury, could miss more time with a shoulder injury suffered yesterday, source said. He’s having tests today, but his status this week is very much in doubt.

Late in the game, McCaffrey appeared to go down hard on his right shoulder when he was being tackled trying to get out of bounds. That appeared to be the source of his injury.
This appears to be the play Christian McCaffrey was injured. Looks like his right shoulder/collarbone area. He came back in for one play, then left again on the final drive. pic.twitter.com/z7W4p0SUnL

If No. 22 is shut down again, it will be another brutal break for a team that can’t seem to stay healthy. While Mike Davis performed well during McCaffrey’s stint on IR, yesterday’s game was moore proof that he can do things Davis (and every other running back) can’t.
Watch McCaffrey get up like Randy Moss for this catch to extend a drive in the fourth quarter.
This is from a RB. Christian McCaffrey is unreal. pic.twitter.com/0oihsUMt65

McCaffrey finished the afternoon with 151 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
Coach Matt Rhule didn’t offer any updates on McCaffrey’s condition after the game. We may not learn more until Wednesday when the first injury report of the week comes out.
