Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Mecole Hardman is okay after undergoing an injury scare. Hardman was carted off the field on Aug. 18 in training camp.
The Kansas City Chiefs star receiver reportedly suffered a groin injury and was able to walk off the field under his own power before being carted off to a building inside team’s facility.
Hardman participated in the Chiefs’ first preseason game against the Chicago Bears and caught one pass for nine yards. Hardman’s timeline to return is still up in the air.
Chiefs Wire outlined how this is an important season for the former Georgia Bulldog standout.
Hardman, 24, enters his fourth season in Kansas City in 2022. He’s coming off of his most productive season yet with 59 receptions for 693 yards and two scores. Even with all of the new additions at receiver this offseason, Hardman is expected to play a significant role in the offense this season after the trade of Tyreek Hill.
Mecole Hardman is expected to have a larger role this year and he is entering into a contract year. Hardman, who is scheduled to be a free agent in March 2023, is Kansas City’s top returning deep threat.
Jordan Schultz reported an update on Hardman’s status:
Great news regarding injured #Chiefs’ WR Mecole Hardman: Source says it’s not serious — he suffered a “groin injury and is doing okay.” Hardman left practice yesterday after landing awkwardly trying to catch a pass.
