One can never be too sure when it comes to the postseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs are taking all sorts of precautions. Case in point, they are signing former long-term punter Dustin Colquitt to their practice squad, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

The Chiefs selected Colquitt in the third round (99th pick overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent his career with them through 2019.
He played in 238 games, punting 1,124 times for an average of 44.8 yards per kick. He was a two-time Pro Bowler.
He holds the record for most games played in franchise history (238). Colquitt was part of the Chiefs Super Bowl LIV victory last season and holds the club’s record for most postseason game appearances (12). Last season he became the second player in team history to accrue 15 seasons with the club (Jerrel Wilson, 15).
He was cut in April and replaced by Tommy Townsend in 2020.
“Dustin is one of the greatest Chiefs of all-time and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to coach him these past seven years,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said at the time. “The longevity of his career here in Kansas City shows you just how consistently he has performed at a high level. Beyond his impact on the field, he was a great teammate and leader. I will always be a huge Dustin Colquitt fan.”
Colquitt kicked for the Steelers and Jaguars in 2020, playing six games.
