Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is expected to get some work in during practice on Wednesday. How much work, exactly? Well, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be doing much at all.

According to a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mahomes will have a “very light practice” today. What that entails exactly remains to be seen. Mahomes is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol and while he reportedly has no symptoms, he’ll need to clear the NFL’s return-to-participation phases to be cleared in time for the game. Part of that protocol is to ramp up physical activity to see if new or worsening symptoms present.

Mahomes will not be a full participant in practice according to Rapoport. He’ll either be listed as a limited participant or non-participant depending on what he’s able to do.

It’s possible that Mahomes simply does individual work with the training staff off on the sideline today. The work that Mahomes does throughout the week will be ramped up commensurate with the phase of the NFL’s return-to-participation protocols.

We’ll hear more on Mahomes’ status from Andy Reid following the conclusion of practice. What’s abundantly clear is that the whole NFL world is watching, waiting and wondering about the health and status of Mahomes. Unfortunately, this is something that can’t be rushed and we’ll all have our answers in due time.
