As the 17th overall pick in 2018, James got a four-year, $12.4 million deal that included a $7 million signing bonus and the team holds an option for a fifth year. It’s a good thing he got that signing bonus because his base salaries are relatively low. James stepped right in last season and made the Pro Bowl and was a first-team All-Pro, all while making a $480,000 base salary. That number jumps to slightly over $1 million, but that’s still a bargain for one of the league’s best safeties. Unfortunately, James looks to be lost for several weeks of the regular season due to injury, but that doesn’t reduce his overall value. (Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports)
