A win is a win and that is what the Iowa Hawkeyes did in their 10-7 defeat of Northwestern. They didn’t do anything extra, but, in typical Iowa fashion, they did just enough.
Drew Stevens sealed the victory with a game-winning 52-yard field goal to solidify the Hawkeyes’ 7-2 record and newfound control of the Big Ten West after a tumultuous day by other contenders that left Iowa sitting alone at the top.
The defense was outstanding as has come to be the norm and the special teams once again saved the day like so few other units can in the entire country. The offense was bogged down, which is just their normal self, but did come through when it mattered most and that does have to count for something.
