The New England Patriots listed quarterback Cam Newton on the injury report on Wednesday with an abdomen injury ahead of the team’s Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Newton should be good to go on Sunday, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe.
It’s likely Newton suffered the injury during the team’s Week 12 win over the Arizona Cardinals at Gillette Stadium. He was not listed on the injury report in the days leading up to the game.
“Yeah, we’ll update it as we go through the week here,” Belichick said on Thursday morning before the team’s second practice of the week. “Depending on how it goes, if there’s an adjustment we need to make, we’ll make it.”
Cam Newton was limited today in practice with an abdomen injury, but it sounds like he should be good to go Sunday against the Chargers, per source.

The team’s backup quarterback is Jarrett Stidham. New England’s third-stringer is Brian Hoyer.
The Patriots are set to kick off against L.A. at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday.
