The New England Patriots may be in full health at the quarterback position entering the team’s mandatory minicamp.

Cam Newton suffered a slight bone bruise early in June that was initially set to sideline him through the remainder of OTAs and all of minicamp. Mac Jones saw an extended workload during Newton’s absence, but he clearly has more to learn and pick up on as a rookie. Newton is the team’s projected starter and minicamp will give invaluable time to work with the entire roster and get a feel for the 2021 team.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote a column on Sunday that included a positive update on the 32-year-old’s status for minicamp.

When the Patriots return to the field Monday, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Cam Newton is back under center, which reflects that his right hand injury isn’t serious. Teammates welcomed Newton at Friday’s voluntary OTA, and word is the QB1 threw the ball around a bit.

Newton’s potential availability will give the Patriots a much better look at where the team currently is with the signal-callers.
