Report: Caleb Williams’ pro day dinner with Bears featured A-list celebs

There were some celebrities in the building during Caleb Williams’ dinner with the Bears in Los Angeles last month.

The Chicago Bears are honing on on quarterback Caleb Williams ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, where it’s all but a guarantee they’ll select him with the first overall pick.

The Bears and Williams have spent plenty of time together over the past few weeks. Chicago recently hosted Williams for his Top 30 visit this week, which included a dinner with Bears brass and current players on Tuesday night. But there was another dinner that we’re now learning more about.

Chicago was well represented at Williams’ pro day, where they spent a couple of days with him before his workout. That included a dinner in Los Angeles, which apparently featured some celebrities.

According to Peter Schrager, Jamie Foxx and Quavo from the Migos were in the same restaurant.

“The pro day, which was a couple of weeks ago, they took him to a place called ‘Bird Streets’ in Los Angeles, which is a private members club,” Schrager said on The Herd. “It was kind of cool for the Bears guys — I spoke to sources there — to see how Caleb kinda operates in that LA scene. At that dinner, they’re there at a table. But there are also celebrities. I think Quavo from the Migos was there. And Jamie Foxx was there.”

The Bears got an opportunity to see Williams out in the LA scene among celebrities, and it sounds like they were impressed.

“The one thing that the Bears have told me in that interaction was ‘He moves quietly.’ He’s not a ‘Look at me!’ guy,” Schrager said. “If anything, he’s kinda quiet and a little bit more reserved than you would imagine from a Heisman Trophy, No. 1 overall pick, who made all this NIL (name, image, likeness) money.”

It was all part of getting to know Williams the person, which was always going to be an important factor in determining whether the Bears would draft him. And it sounds like he’s checked every box to this point, where all Chicago needs to do is turn in the card for it to be official on April 25.
