Report: Bulls have shown interest in Zach LaVine-Dejounte Murray trade

The Chicago Bulls have reportedly shown an interest in a potential trade for Dejounte Murray-Zach LaVine with the Atlanta Hawks.

This year’s trade deadline will speak volumes about the Chicago Bulls. For a while at the start of the season, they seemed like a sure-fire bet to reset the roster. They’ve been playing well as of late, now sitting in ninth place in the East, but they still don’t have the talent to compete with the best of the best. A reset may not be imminent, but a restructuring could be necessary.

Of all the potential trade candidates in Chicago, Zach LaVine is the most prominent. He’s been thrown around in trade rumors for months, and multiple teams have shown an interest in making a move for him.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Bulls have shown an “exploratory” interest in a potential Dejounte Murray trade that would likely send LaVine to the Atlanta Hawks.

“The Bulls have also inquired about Murray, league sources told Yahoo Sports, as part of Chicago’s exploratory efforts to return All-Star talent for LaVine,” Fischer wrote. “Yet those talks never gained much traction with the Hawks, sources said. And while the Spurs continue to be mentioned by league personnel as a potential landing spot for Murray, San Antonio does not currently bill as a probable outcome for Atlanta’s trade approach either, sources said.”

The Hawks’ lack of interest in LaVine makes sense, considering their struggles on the defensive end, but there could still be a deal to work out if Atlanta had any interest in guys like Alex Caruso, DeMar DeRozan, or other veterans.
