As expected, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans will be testing out free agency for the first time in his Hall of Fame career, per ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
This comes as no surprise, as Evans hitting the market was always the most likely scenario, even if it still make the most sense for him to return to the Bucs on a new contract. Evans needs to see what he’s truly worth on the open market, and Tampa Bay has to find out the number they have to beat in order to keep him.
A future Hall of Famer and the greatest offensive player in franchise history, Evans is the only player in NFL history to top 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first 10 seasons, and put up some of the best numbers of his career at 30 years old last season.
WR Mike Evans plans to hit free agency for the first time in his career, per sources. Tampa and Evans are in discussions but he wants to explore his options. This doesn’t mean Evans' time as a Buc is over, but he plans on hearing from all teams before making a decision.

He won’t come cheap, but it looks like Evans will get to find out just how much he’s worth to other teams, and whether or not the Bucs can make an offer that’s competitive enough to keep in Tampa Bay for his entire NFL career.
