Gronkowski retired prior to the 2019 season and remained out of football all last season, despite some early-season speculation that he may join Brady and Antonio Brown back with the Patriots. Well, we all know that didn’t go according to plan for New England.
Now, it seems as though the Patriots are officially ready to move on from the Brady era, Gronk included. It’s a great trade for the Buccaneers since it immediately adds a veteran tight end who has a history of championship success with Brady.
For the Patriots, it’s more about shedding Gronk’s contract and building towards the future.
