Report: Bucs expected to release Donovan Smith, could shift Tristan Wirfs to LT

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be making some big changes to their offensive line this offseason

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heading into an offseason full of big changes, and there might be some big ones ahead for the offensive line.

Longtime left tackle Donovan Smith is expected to be released, and could be replaced by an in-house candidate, per Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report.

Smith’s potential release would come as no surprise, considering his massive salary cap number, and the fact that he’s coming off the most disappointing season of his career.

All-Pro right tackle Tristan Wirfs could switch sides and replace Smith, according to Reynolds, and second-round pick Luke Goedeke could fill Wirfs’ spot by going back to the same position he played in college.

The Bucs are facing a massive salary cap crunch, so don’t be surprised if Smith isn’t the only familiar name to be looking for a new home this offseason.
