Report: Browns hope to re-sign C Ethan Pocic after breakout season

The Browns want to bring back their starting center.

As the new league year nears, so does the start of free agency. And the Cleveland Browns have a few handfuls of players set to hit the market. While some are not worth the energy or money to re-sign, center Ethan Pocic is a player who should be at the top of their list of players to bring back. And according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland dot com, the Browns are very open and would like to bring back their starting center:

“Pocic played so well, in fact, that he might’ve priced himself out of the Browns’ market.

Ranking No. 11 overall among qualifying centers according to Pro Football Focus, Pocic is undoubtedly the best center set to hit the market in March. The Browns will try to prevent it, but he’ll want to take advantage of his chance to hit the jackpot. The Browns got him at the bargain basement price of $1,187,500 this season, and he proved to be one of the best centers in the NFL despite missing four games late in the season with a knee injury.

If the Browns can’t keep him, they’ll likely have to replace him because Harris is still a question mark coming off of the major knee injury.”

If the Browns are unable to retain the services of their top-five center, look for them to potentially draft one on a rookie contract as the health and lack of experience cannot be banked on in such a crucial 2023 season.
