Report: Browns have ‘a great chance’ to bring back center Ethan Pocic

The Browns may have a shot to bring back Ethan Pocic after all.

The chances of retaining center Ethan Pocic as NFL free agency gets set to open up looked slim for the Cleveland Browns after extending right tackle Jack Conklin late in the 2022 season. However, according to Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns “have a great chance of re-signing” their breakout center. This could mean the center stocks on the open market is not as robust as initially thought. Cabot continues:

“The Browns initially figured that Pocic, their 2022 starting center, had priced himself out of Cleveland with an excellent season. But over the past week or so, the center market became flooded and prices came down. The Browns are now confident they can wrap up Pocic, 27, to a multi-year deal, and it could get done in the next couple of days.”

This will make it four of five offensive linemen paid, and a first round pick invested in the fifth. The Browns already have the highest-paid offensive line in the league, and it looks like that number will increase.
