Report: Broncos listening to trade offers for WR Tim Patrick

The Broncos are listening to trade offers for WR Tim Patrick, according to 9News.

The Denver Broncos are listening to trade offers for wide receiver Tim Patrick ahead of Tuesday’s roster cuts deadline, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. If the Broncos are unable to find a trade partner for Patrick, the team will release him.

“With significant depth and talent at WR, Broncos are moving on from popular veteran Tim Patrick, per source,” Klis tweeted on Monday. “Broncos are currently exploring trade possibilities for Patrick, who is generating strong interest on market in advance of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline.”

After missing the 2022 season with a torn ACL and the 2023 season with a torn Achilles, Patrick agreed to drop his 2024 base salary from $9.5 million down to the league minimum ($1.125 million) this spring. He still has a salary cap hit just north of $7 million this season. If Denver ends up releasing Patrick, it will cost the team about $6 million in a “dead money” cap hit, according to OverTheCap.com.

Patrick seems to be fully healthy and he has had a good summer, but the Broncos have a crowded wide receiver room. Denver coach Sean Payton seems to be content to move forward with other options at the position.
