Report: Broncos ‘in the hunt’ for DL Quinton Jefferson

The Broncos are “in the hunt” for Seahawks pending free agent defensive end Quinton Jefferson.

The Denver Broncos are “in the hunt” for some of the top defensive linemen in this year’s NFL free agent class, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson and Houston Texans nose tackle D.J. Reader are among the players Denver is targeting, according to Klis. The team’s interest in Reader was already known.

Jefferson (6-4, 291 pounds) was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of Maryland. After being sidelined for a large part of his rookie season by a knee injury, Jefferson was cut by the Seahawks in 2017. He then started the 2017 season on the L.A. Rams’ practice squad.

Seattle signed Jefferson off the Rams’ practice squad later that season and he has spent the last three years in Seattle. He started 24 of a possible 30 games over the last two seasons, totaling 51 tackles and 6.5 sacks in those contests.

Entering his fifth season in the NFL, Jefferson will turn 27 on March 31.
