Report: Brian Flores can take NFL, teams to court over lawsuit

After filing a lawsuit against the NFL and three teams, a Manhattan judge ruled that he can take them to court and skip arbitration

After Brian Flores was fired from the Miami Dolphins following the 2021 season, he filed a lawsuit against the National Football League and three teams on the basis of discrimination, stating that the league was “rife with racism.”

On Wednesday afternoon, The Associated Press reported that Judge Valerie Caproni ruled Flores can take the lawsuit to court and avoid arbitration.

Caproni wrote that the case had “an unflattering spotlight on the employment practices of National Football League” teams. Along with that, she wrote, “Although the clear majority of professional football players are Black, only a tiny percentage of coaches are Black.”

The next steps of this case are currently unknown, but by going to trial, the information of this case is more likely to go public and shine an even brighter light on this issue.
