The Jets will face Brett Rypien on Thursday Night Football, according to NFL Network’s James Palmer.
The Boise State product was named the Broncos’ starting quarterback for Week 4 after he made his NFL debut this past Sunday against the Buccaneers. Rypien went 8-9 for 53 yards and an interception in relief of Jeff Driskel.
Denver’s QB room has been in a bind since starter Drew Lock injured his shoulder. Depending on how Rypien performs against the Jets, the Broncos could have another starter under center in Week 5. The team recently signed Blake Bortles, but head coach Vic Fangio said it would be “unrealistic” to start him against New York since he’s only practiced twice with Denver.
And so, Rypien will make his first NFL start at MetLife Stadium. Both his Broncos and the Jets are 0-3 this season, so New York will have a chance to pick up a victory against a winless team on its third-string quarterback.
