Report: Big Ten leaders to vote on inviting USC, UCLA

Big Ten expansion is a vote away. USC and UCLA are expected to be a formality at this point according to Nicole Auerbach.

While most Penn State fans may have been locked in on the recruiting developments of the day, Thursday turned out to be quite a wild ride on the college sports landscape. Reports surfacing linking USC and UCLA to the Big Ten through another dynamic into the future outlook of the Big Ten as the move to a mega conference appeared to be sprinting forward.

The news of this potentially mammoth expansion move by the Big Ten was first reported by The Mercury News reporter Jon Wilner, a veteran sports reporter who has as good a pulse on all things related to the PAC-12 as any. That report was followed up by additional reports from various outlets noting the two California PAC_12 institutions are having discussions to join the Big Ten.

And, it appears that decision from the Big Ten leaders could be imminent. Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic reported, via Twitter, chancellors and presidents will be voting on inviting USC and UCLA on Thursday evening.

This would be a massive addition for the Big Ten, and who knows at this point whether this will be the only move by the conference. But regularly scheduled road trips to California sure sound nice, right?
