Edge defenders remain a big priority for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Cincinnati Bengals have a few areas of obvious need in the 2020 NFL draft.

Besides quarterback, linebacker, wideout and offensive line come to mind.

Just don’t count out edge defenders.

As the Bengals added a wealth of talent in an unexpectedly aggressive trip to free agency, a rotational rusher is one area that largely felt like it got left out.

But according to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer, that’s one position the Bengals are targeting — outside of the first round.

Were the Bengals not looking at one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory at No. 1, maybe there’d be a bigger consideration for Ohio State’s Chase Young.

But prioritizing edge defenders after Round 1 isn’t exactly a bad place to be either. Sitting at No. 33, a run on other positions could mean the Bengals have their shot at (if not their choice of) A.J. Epenesa, Yetur Gross-Matos and Zack Baun.

And that’s just in the second round with plenty of value scattered throughout the draft. We recently looked at an edge defender in every round that fits the Bengals.

Given the reaffirming nature of the report here, keep an eye out for an edge presence who can create pressure as soon as No. 33.
