The Miami Dolphins want Joe Burrow at No. 1 in the 2020 NFL draft.
The Miami Dolphins needed to lose more games to make that happen.
According to a new report, the Dolphins want to move up but the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t playing ball.
The report comes from ESPN’s Dan Graziano on Get Up:
“I am told the Dolphins would like to go up and trade for that No. 1 pick and take Joe Burrow…but I’m also told at this point the Bengals have given no indication that they’re willing to move out of that pick and intend to sit there at No. 1 and take Joe Burrow.”
Reports dating back as early as January noted the Bengals don’t plan on moving out of the first pick because of their infatuation with Joe Burrow and that hasn’t changed.
Earlier this week, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor offered a smile and big “no comment” when asked if teams had called about trading for the first pick. Team ownership had an interesting comment about the first pick in a recent letter to fans, too.
Burrow is too unique of a player for the Bengals to trade out of the top spot. He’s also got the Ohio storyline going for him, which is an important aspect for a team with a waning fanbase.
If Miami wants Cincinnati to truly entertain the idea, it probably needs to be an offer unlike the NFL has ever seen.
