Back during the NFL combine, a report surfaced saying the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears had been in touch about an Andy Dalton trade.
Fast forward to Monday — the first day of legal tampering before free agency — and the talks are back on as the Bears look for help.
According to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears reached out to the Bengals about a trade, potentially around the same time they reached out to the Jacksonville Jaguars about Nick Foles.
The Bears have always felt like the obvious landing spot for Dalton. But the front office there had previously been active on the Teddy Bridgewater front.
Keep in mind Chicago’s interest in Foles could be a leverage play with the Bengals and Dalton or vice versa. But those Bengals would like to unload Dalton’s gaudy contract after spending a big amount on tagging A.J. Green so that they can be more active in free agency.
The phones are active in the NFL world right now and the Bears, per a source, are reaching out to the Bengals and Jaguars re: trade possibilities for Andy Dalton or Nick Foles.
