Report: Arkansas wide receiver out for season

Arkansas sophomore wide receiver suffers major injury during scrimmage and will miss the rest of this season.

[autotag]Arkansas football[/autotag] suffered their first major loss of the season following their first scrimmage of fall camp this past Saturday.

According to a team representative, sophomore wide receiver [autotag]Sam Mbake[/autotag] will miss the entire 2023 season with a knee injury. He suffered the injury during Saturday’s scrimmage. Following the scrimmage, Mbake posted to social media stating that fans would “have to wait a lil longer” and “trust the process” which may have indicated the severity of his injury.

The 6-3, 205-pound Georgia native arrived at Arkansas as part of the 2022 recruiting class where he was a consensus four-star prospect. He appeared in nine games last season, but the majority of that time was spent on special teams.

Entering this season, Mbake was making great strides throughout spring and fall camp. [autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag] singled out his performance following their first practice in full pads last week. Mbake was routinely getting reps with the first team and figured to at least be part of the wide receiver rotation entering this season.

Arkansas has some solid depth to help fill the void left by Mbake’s injury, but it’s still a tough blow to a position group that lost 72.5% of last year’s production.
