There isn’t a timetable on a return for Washington quarterback Alex Smith, and there’s no guarantee that he ever takes the field in a football game again, but progress continues to be made each and every day.
After the stunning news that Smith was cleared for football activities last month, more good news came out this weekend, saying that the veteran QB had recently gone through some on-field workouts in Washington and he was looking pretty good, according to NBC Sports Washington.
Speaking with sources close to the Washington Football Team, Smith participated in four consecutive days of on-field workouts with trainers and performed well. Perhaps more importantly, Smith suffered no setbacks after the on-field work.
What this means for the Washington Football Team is very little, to be completely honest, but it is a huge step for Smith, who suffered a gruesome injury in 2018 that nearly ended his career, and at times threatened his life. Whether or not Smith plays again in the future is yet to be known, but getting this far is already so far and above the expectations, that anything more is just icing on the cake.
