The Philadelphia 76ers acquired Alec Burks in a trade deadline deal with the Golden State Warriors back in February with the hopes that he would provide some bench scoring.
He did that as he averaged 12.2 points and he should over 41% from deep with Philadelphia. However, after the team acquired Seth Curry and Danny Green as well as draft Tyrese Maxey and Isaiah Joe, it was clear there was no role for Burks any longer since they play his position.
With this in mind, Burks is leaving the Sixers for a new opportunity with the New York Knicks. He will sign a 1-year $6 million deal and he will bring his offensive ability to Madison Square Garden.

Burks served his role with the Sixers. He proved that he can be a solid role player on a playoff team and now he has a new opportunity in a large market. The Knicks offer a chance for him to expand his game even longer with more opportunity.
